An Incomplete Conversation

What if when our eyes meet

and one of us turns away, 

will we fill the air with silence

or empty words, laying 

it side by side

a question,

a nod, smile

empty talk?

 

I hope when my voice 

reaches you 

with stretched arms

in a whisper 

across the table

at your favorite spot

you will hear me 

in your heart.
