Dead Phone Line
Anitha Devi Pillai
Did I tell you
that I had watched
the phone
sit silent?
Neither of us moved.
Sometimes I played
Peek-a-boo
trying to scare her.
But I failed.
She didn't move.
I wish she was dead.
Why else were there
no calls from you?
I haven't moved.
