Lost & Found
Anitha Devi Pillai
I searched for you
in the chaos of
crowded rooms and halls
in the silence of
bookshops and libraries.
Often I caught a smile
sometimes a leer
once even a frown.
But it wasn't you.
One day I stopped.
Drowned
in the mountain of
notes and emails
in my red pen
scribbles and notes.
No quiet moments
nor space or time
not even for an extra breath.
I remember that moment –
that moment when you found me
coffee in hand
buried in my thoughts
with your Cheshire smile.
